Why Desktop Project?
Because a desktop is an interesting thing.
It represents people's own way to organize logical space, manipulate personal objects and contacts, plan activities.
If you could know someone by watching his house, it would be the same by watching his desktop.
A desktop is a personality mirror.
It goes with the psychological, economical, social condition of its user.
It could show some aspects of his private life, but in general it will show one's style, likings, desires, stereothypes, miths.
Desktops from different parts of the world exemplify the path of contemporary globalization
and standardization (Britney Spears on a Pakistani guy's desktop), or in some cases, forms of
opposition to it, regionalisms (soccer teams, pictures of friends, ecc).
Desktoproject is both an informatic and sociological experiment.

How can I upload my desktop?
Minimize all the running applications, press the PRINT SCREEN key on your keyboard (or similars),
paste the snapshot using a graphic editor and save the image in .jpg format. Then upload it here!

I can't find the print screen key on my keyboard.
Every operative system has his own way to take a screen shot. This is only referred to the Windows user. Other systems like Linux or OSX have several ways to make a snapshot, so look for it!

How many desktops can I upload?
Feel free to upload your desktop as many times it changes. As many you change.
IMPORTANT NOTE! We have been deleting several copies of the same stuff! Please upload a new desktop *just* when it is really changed!
Could uploading my desktop be dangerous for my privacy?
We have not noticed problems concerning privacy violations. Anyway, you'd better hide your strictly personal icons or place them elsewhere as you take the snapshot.
